Welcome to Galveston Dance Club (!


Reason For Being 

Galveston Dance Club (aka "the club") is a group of persons from Galveston County, Texas who love to dance and have collected together to promote/learn/teach dancing to other persons of like mind.  The club has regular meetings where members discuss and vote on issues of interest and necessity related to the club.  Notification of club meetings is via e-mail, and all current club members are welcome.   

Last Club meeting:  September at Jim's house. 

Next Club meeting  TBA.

every 5th Tues & 5th Thursday practice parties 7-9p, bring snack &  fav drink to share . Let's all try to attend both parties:)

The Club promotes:  Waltz, West Coast Swing, Cha Cha, Rumba, East Coast Swing and Jitterbug, Two Step, Triple Two Step, Salsa, Meringue, Night Club Two Step, Hustle, American Tango, Argentine Tango, Bachata, Zydeco.  

Tuesday Archie teaches Swing dancing 7:30-8:30pm and Jim teaches Cha Cha 8:30-9:30.
Thursday Louis and Betty teach Intermediate Progressive Waltz 7:30-8:30pm and they teach Beginning Progressive Waltz 8:30-9:30.  Location for all dance classes is Total Fitness, 4910 Seawall Blvd., Galveston, Texas.

 Classes are expected to advance from beginning to intermediate over a three month period.  Selection of the current instruction is by membership vote.  Additional and side instruction/privates are available by personal arrangement with the instructors for a fee. MEMBERS INVITE YOUR FRIENDS!

Dues are  $30 per quarterly or $100 yearly and collected at quarterly meetings and classes.

Membership Benefits:  Instruction is FREE for club members with  up to 4 free classes a week plus monthly parties & yearly dinner/dances. Visitors may attend  one Tues & Thurs , after which they must join the club to receive further instruction.


 Jim Gilliam  

Has taught for Gal college for many years. He has been a member of GDC for eight years. 

Louis & Betty Whistler  

Teach American Tango, Bachata, Zydeco, Cha Cha, Rumba, Salsa, Meringue, West Coast Swing,  East Coast Swing, Hustle, Jitterbug, Two Step, Triple Two Step,  Polka, Night Club Two, Foxtrot, Waltz, and Line dances.

Louis and Betty have been teaching professionally for 24 years.  They own a dance studio at their home in Dickinson, Texas and have taught at various dance classes for the Department of Continuing Education at College of the Mainland in Texas City, Texas, Nessler Senior Center, Friendswood high school. They also teach workshops at various places & perform dance exhibitions & do volunteer work.

Archie Rodriguez

Teaches West Coast Swing, East Coast Swing, Whip, Cha, Cha, Cha and Rumba, Salsa.

Archie has been a dancer for many years and has taught privately and in many classes.  Archie is a GDC teacher and gracious helper for other dance teachers.


Nicole new  Line Dance teacher has previous experience teaching Color Guard.
